Google has Trouble Shifting Nexus One

Sales of Google’s Nexus One smartphone are still slower than the search giant might well like it to be, with reports indicating that Google has managed to sell somewhere in the region of 80,000 devices.

Initial reports had indicated that Google’s Nexus One had had a very slow opening week indeed, and it seems that things haven’t improved much. According to the mobile analysts over at Flurry, the first week of sales for Google’s self-described “superphone” saw the search giant shift the fairly unimpressive number of 20,000 Nexus One devices. Now that we’re at the first month of sales, things are looking no more impressive.

Motorola to Build Google’s Nexus Two?

Word is creeping out that Motorola could well be building the next phone to be sold directly through Google, without any intervention from network carriers.

HTC's effort looks well, we'll be interested to see Motorola's offering.

If the word from TechRadar is right, then signs are pointing towards Motorola as the second company to have build a smartphone for sale directly through Google. Just what we can expect from this device has yet to be seen or even really hinted at, though it would make a lot of sense for it to be running Google’s mobile operating system, Android.

Google Phone Details Emerge

Google may have denied that it was developing its own phone two weeks ago, but by last week it was “not talking about rumours” when asked about the potential device. Now, it seems the device is all but confirmed.

Word came via a post to the Google Mobile Blog on December 12th that the company is working on a “mobile lab,” which, in the words of the blog itself, “… is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees around the globe.”
