Happy Thursday everyone. One of the best things about doing up our Product Spotlight blog posts on a Thursday afternoon is that they’re a bit of a reminder that the weekend is only one more full day away 🙂

For those of you who aren’t familiar with our Product Spotlight post, every week we like to post something that someone working at has bought and particularly liked. Some of our more popular posts have been the one on the Razer Deathadder (gaming mouse) and the Creative Zen X-Fi (portable media player). This week we’re all about the Xbox 360 Elite.

With the vital Christmas sales period fast approaching, Microsoft has dropped the price of its Xbox 360, removing the old Xbox 360 Premium from the product line altogether. Instead, we the Xbox 360 Elite has become the flagship model for the Xbox division, and with that the price has been dropped to €279.

Aside from the usual Xbox bells and whistles (wireless controllers and the like) the Elite boasts a black finish to differentiate it from the Xbox 360 Arcade and the late Xbox 360 Premium. Moreover, it’s got a 120GB hard drive, which should be more than enough to ensure that you won’t be left in the lurch when it comes to save data. It also comes with a headset for those of you fond of having a natter while you’re in the middle of a game of Halo.

Anyway, it’s a solid deal for anyone who’s held off on picking up one of the higher end consoles until now, particularly if you’ve missed out on the raft of solid Xbox 360 titles. There’s certainly some catching up to do. You can click through to see our product page for the Xbox 360 Elite.

The August 2009 price cut is definately an economically strategic move for Microsoft and Sony.
