New Mac vs PC Ads Assault Windows 7


Apple has launched a series of additions to its Mac vs. PC campaign that fairly directly attack Microsoft’s latest OS, Windows 7.


While Apple’s advertising certainly had a fun slant on the endless Mac/PC debates when they first launched, its tried and tested “I’m a Mac,” “And I’m a PC,” formula has started to get a little tired. While the new ads are, honestly, quite funny in places, the whole thing is trending towards insipid, rather than comedic.

The first ad is fairly solid, but the second and third feel a touch less solid. We’ve posted them here to save you guys the trouble of YouTube trawling to find the newest ads, but they’re honestly not entirely worth the effort this time around, being as they are, mostly fairly dull.

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about these ads is that Apple felt it was necessary at all to try and get some content out there to dampen Microsoft’s clearly successful Windows 7 launch, especially considering the fact that Apple already launched a raft of new products (new MacBooks, iMacs and the genuinely impressive Magic Mouse) this week in what looked like a move to eclipse the Windows 7 launch week a little.

    Sigh*. I like Apple, even though they’re overpriced, but when you look at Apple trying to make Microsoft look like nothing but a business machine, it’s Apple kicking itself in the ass with poor business practices like this.

    I do love these videos though. Even though they bash the thing I’d pick over an Apple O.S anyday. They are humourous to say the least.

    But still. ‘Customer Satisfaction’ or not. Imo and that of millions of others. Windows > Mac.

    I don’t understand the last commercial. What are they trying to say with the line “if we have to move all our stuff”? I upgraded to Windows 7 and didn’t have to move anything.

      Yeah, even as a Mac user it seems a very strange direction to go, since so many will be opting for the in-place upgrade. Apparently these ads are also incredibly expensive to run… so it’s a bit of a double-fail on Apple’s part :/

    this clearly shows mac is getting frustrated with loosing grounds to windows 7. i am a proud pc and love to say that win 7 is the best out there today

    The reason why they’re saying “I have to move all my stuff” is because you can’t do an upgrade install to Windows7 from WindowsXP, you can only upgrade install (keep all your programs and settings) with WindowsVista.

    It’s not really a big deal anyway, people are just dumbasses. I mean, you’d have to be to move from a PC to a Mac. Except for laptops, macbooks are pretty sweet, if you can afford the $10,000 to buy one.
