Product Spotlight – Acer 23” Widescreen LCD

Good afternoon all, hope you’re feeling well (and if you’re not you could make yourself feel better by entering one of the competitions we’re running at the moment). For those of you who don’t follow the blog too closely, we like to do one Product Spotlight post every week.

Click through to see our page for the Acer 23-inch widescreen LCD 🙂

It’s nice and simple; it’s just a way for those of us in the office to recommend a product that we really like. This week’s spotlit product is Acer’s 23” widescreen V223Hb display. It’s got an elegant body and as you’ll see from its spec below it manages to pair that with some fairly impressive hardware.

The contrast ratio, measured in greyscale as they usually are, is 40,000:1 and it boasts a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080, which means it’s good for 1080p (or FullHD, depending on the terms people are using). It’s also got a solid 5ms response time, so you won’t need to worry too much about it not keeping up with action movies or sports. The only drawback is that it’s just got VGA connections, so most people won’t consider attaching it to anything but a PC.

That said, there is an Xbox 360 to VGA cable available, and the combination of that cable and a solid display like this makes for a relatively cheap way to free up the TV if you’ve got an avid gamer in the house… or someone complaining about the fact that you’re an avid gamer in the house.

On top of everything else, Acer’s 23” V233Hb also a bit of a steal at €149, which makes it ideal for anyone setting up a multiple display arrangement for a desktop… one of our Twitter followers has four on his desk. I shudder to think how he arranges thing, but I know one of them is balanced on a tower of books and DVD cases…

It’s also been solidly reviewed by people who’ve bought it, so do check it out if you’re at all interested in picking up a new display 🙂
