Smile Time All – Work’s Over

February 5, 2010

Good afternoon all, we’re not sure about you, but it’s been a long week here in Komplett Dublin, so we’re pleased to be able to sign off at the end of it all and looking forward to the weekend. Hopefully everyone else is feeling at least as cheery as we are now, but we know that the short days can get people down, so we like to post something just for laughs at the end of the week.

Someone sent me the above YouTube clip in a mail earlier on in the week and… well, if you’ve seen it I hope you responded in a similar fashion. Aside from that, a few interesting bits and pieces hit our inboxes this week, not least of which this image:

Slap on a Smile – It’s the Weekend

January 22, 2010

Happy Friday afternoon all, it’s been a mad week here in the offices, between trying to get more feature-style articles up on the blog and arranging our interview with the Oscar winning Professor Anil Kokoram from Trinity College. Still we’re all well and hopefully everyone else is too. Here are some of the best bits and pieces we’ve encountered on the web over the course of the last week or so… just to see if we can get a bit of a smile from you guys…

We’re not sure why the above managed to gain as much fascination as it did, but I’ve watched it a couple of times right through without the vaguest urge to stop, so we thought we’d post it here to see if it cheers you guys up as much as it did us.

Aside from that, there’s also this, which turned up this week when someone asked about the Facebook page…

Are you on Facebook?

Put on a Happy Face – Weekend Time

January 8, 2010

Good evening all, glad to see you’ve all made it through the snow and the ice to read our Friday blog post. As most of you will know, it’s been a hard week for those of us in Komplett Dublin, trying to keep on top of everything without succumbing to the record-breaking cold or the fairly dreadful roads.

Anyway, it’s a Friday afternoon, so we’re back, as ever, in an attempt to make the last stretch of work just before the weekened just a little cheerier, we like to post some of the best bits we’ve seen across the web in the last week or so… It’s nice and easy, but they’re things we’ve enjoyed tremendously. This is a short film that poses the question…

Smile Everyone – Weekend’s Here

December 11, 2009

Good afternoon all, it’s Friday and the sun is out (even if it is just about to go down), so we’re all cheerful here in the office. It’s our usual Friday afternoon thing to post a quick piece to the blog to see if we can’t get a cheap smile out of our readers in the last couple of hours of work… just in an attempt to lighten the mood really…

Also, it’s Shelton’s birthday today and Rafal’s birthday tomorrow, so we’re all in a good mood here this afternoon 🙂 This one is for Raf and Shelton, happy birthday guys…

So, now that we’ve got that out of the way, we’ll move on to the other bits and pieces that people have sent us in the mail over the course of the week. Earlier on, I said on Twitter that I must be a hero for working through lunch, so someone sent me this and I loved it so much I had to keep it.

Smile Time Y’all

December 4, 2009

Good afternoon everyone, I hope we find you well this muggy Friday afternoon. If the week’s been a bit tough then you’ve come to the right place; because it’s cold outside and the week’s been long and stressful, we like to put up a blog post at the end of the week to see if we can’t cheer people up a bit in that long Friday afternoon stretch… it can drag out.

The above is probably the shortest YouTube clip I’ve laughed out loud at in a long time. I’m reliably informed that it’s a fairly simple fake, but it’s still very well put together. Just about everything about it is perfect, right down to the noise of the fire extinguisher.

Does exactly what it says on the tin really...

Following our flood pictures from last week, this road sign is perhaps the loneliest thing I’ve seen this week… I can’t imagine the poor lad who has to actually go out to the road in the mornings and move it around depending on the increase/decrease in floodwater.

Don't try this at home 😉

Myself and Shelton have been talking about our various attempts to make household things waterproof, but it turns out the real fun is probably in getting water into things, rather than keeping it out. I can’t imagine what made anyone think of this, but I love it.

This is among my favourite images of all time 😀

Anyway, that’s it from us for now guys, I hope you’ve enjoyed the blog over the course of this week. If you’d like to keep up with us over the weekend, I think myself and Ryan have issues just serious enough to mean we’ll keep an eye on our forum over at on our days off… so you can always pop in and say hello 🙂

Until Monday, have an excellent weekend guys, we’ll be back bright and early when Monday morning hits.

Friday Afternoon – Two Hours to the Weekend

October 16, 2009

Hey there all, hopefully you’ve had as good a week as we have. It’s been busy out here, especially now that winter is starting to crank up again. Still, we’re putting on a brave face and it’s good to see the sun out on a Friday afternoon even in mid-October. For those of you who don’t follow the blog too regularly, we like our last post of the week to put a smile on people’s faces, so this is just a post to try and boost that Friday feeling 🙂

It’s always nice to post a video that’s made us laugh out loud, and the above is some of the most dedicated stop motion I’ve ever seen. It’s a bit on the long side, but you’ll have gotten the most out of it by about a minute in anyway.

Put on a Happy Face – Weekend’s Nearly Here

October 9, 2009

Hopefully by now everyone is working themselves into that Friday feeling; it can be a bit hard before lunch, but now that the afternoon is well and truly underway it’s hard for us to stop thinking about the fact that the weekend is almost here.

If nothing else does it for you, then ramming two spacecraft into the surface of the moon at speeds in excess of seven times the speed of sounds is among the best ways we’ve seen to kickstart the weekend, fair play NASA, have to give them credit for that.

It’s strange to see Jackie Chan advertising Kapersky 2010, but I guess on some levels it’s a perfect fit and by “on some levels” I do mean “when it comes to fantastic advertising. I’m also intrigued by Kapersky’s idea of “the Cyberworld,” it seems like a pretty hip place 🙂

Cheer Up Time – The Weekend’s Nearly Here

September 25, 2009

Good afternoon all, hopefully now that the sun has come out for pretty much the first time this week everyone is a little cheerier in anticipation of the weekend. Anyway, for those of you who don’t know, we tend to post a blog towards the end of the day on a Friday in an attempt to get a smile out of those of you who are sitting in work drudging through the last couple of hours of the week.

This was linked to by someone we follow from the @Komplettie Twitter account a couple of weeks back and I saved the link but completely forgot about it. If you’re the one who linked us to it, then I have to thank you and apologise for having forgotten about it. If nobody else does, our customer manager is a bit of a Kirk fan, so he’ll love it 🙂

Put on a Happy Face – Weekend’s Almost Here

September 18, 2009

Good afternoon all, the weather isn’t great today but sometimes that just doesn’t matter because, pleasantly enough, it’s pretty much the start of the weekend already. We’ve had a good week, but today we’re just a little sad because we’re losing Denis from RMA. He’s moving on to greener pastures and we wish him every success 🙂 It won’t be the same working here without him, but as long as he’s happy, so are we.

You can see why we'll miss him :) He livened the place up.

You can see why we'll miss him 🙂 He livened the place up.

Anyway, for those of you unfamiliar with our usual Friday afternoon piece, we just tend to throw up a few bits and pieces that try to get people a bit of a smile for during their last couple of hours of work on a Friday night.

Cheer Up All – It’s Nearly the Weekend

August 28, 2009

Hey there everyone, hope the week has been as kind to you guys as it’s been to us. It’s been kind of an interesting week in the news, though we’ve had a fairly slow day today, which is something that can happen on a Friday (especially in summertime).

For those of you who don’t read regularly, we tend to post one last light-hearted blog entry to get a bit of a smile on Friday afternoon. Y’know, in an attempt to cheer up everyone stuck in work for the next few hours. In that spirit, here’s something we really enjoyed that you guys might appreciate.

This has kind of been doing the rounds, but if you haven’t already seen it, it’s well worth a look. As a general rule “sand art” isn’t something we’d encountered before, but if there weren’t tears when we first saw it there were certainly a lot of, “No man, just some… grit… in my eye…” moments that were, honestly, just a touch embarrassing.

Next is just an image we stumbled on last night that’s particularly timely given the launch of Snow Leopard today. Apple’s next OS, could it be Cougar?

Credit on this one goes to Dschwen :)

Last thing for this week; this one goes out to all the people this week who were hoping for an announcement about when Diablo III might come out. A wait that, of course, ended in disappointment.

I genuinely laugh out loud every time I see it :D

Alright everyone, that’s it from us until Monday. I hope you guys have enjoyed the blog for this week. I’ll try and keep responding to any comments we get here or on the Twitter over the weekend when I can 🙂

Have a great weekend all!
