Smile Time All – Work’s Over

February 5, 2010

Good afternoon all, we’re not sure about you, but it’s been a long week here in Komplett Dublin, so we’re pleased to be able to sign off at the end of it all and looking forward to the weekend. Hopefully everyone else is feeling at least as cheery as we are now, but we know that the short days can get people down, so we like to post something just for laughs at the end of the week.

Someone sent me the above YouTube clip in a mail earlier on in the week and… well, if you’ve seen it I hope you responded in a similar fashion. Aside from that, a few interesting bits and pieces hit our inboxes this week, not least of which this image:

Cheer up all – Two Days Off

January 29, 2010

Good afternoon all, hopefully this week hasn’t been too crushing for the rest of you, as it’s been quite nice to us. It’s been a long week, and indeed, a long January, but that seems to be the way with Winter months. Hopefully February will move along a little more quickly.

Anyway, as with every other Friday, we just wanted to do up a quick post with some of the various bits and pieces we’ve found across the web that have gotten at least a smile and often a bit of a giggle from us. This simple Korean comic is among the best things to have hit my inbox this week, and I thought that it might be something you’d all enjoy.

Slap on a Smile – It’s the Weekend

January 22, 2010

Happy Friday afternoon all, it’s been a mad week here in the offices, between trying to get more feature-style articles up on the blog and arranging our interview with the Oscar winning Professor Anil Kokoram from Trinity College. Still we’re all well and hopefully everyone else is too. Here are some of the best bits and pieces we’ve encountered on the web over the course of the last week or so… just to see if we can get a bit of a smile from you guys…

We’re not sure why the above managed to gain as much fascination as it did, but I’ve watched it a couple of times right through without the vaguest urge to stop, so we thought we’d post it here to see if it cheers you guys up as much as it did us.

Aside from that, there’s also this, which turned up this week when someone asked about the Facebook page…

Are you on Facebook?

Put on a Happy Face – Weekend Time

January 8, 2010

Good evening all, glad to see you’ve all made it through the snow and the ice to read our Friday blog post. As most of you will know, it’s been a hard week for those of us in Komplett Dublin, trying to keep on top of everything without succumbing to the record-breaking cold or the fairly dreadful roads.

Anyway, it’s a Friday afternoon, so we’re back, as ever, in an attempt to make the last stretch of work just before the weekened just a little cheerier, we like to post some of the best bits we’ve seen across the web in the last week or so… It’s nice and easy, but they’re things we’ve enjoyed tremendously. This is a short film that poses the question…

Friday Afternoon – Two Hours to the Weekend

October 16, 2009

Hey there all, hopefully you’ve had as good a week as we have. It’s been busy out here, especially now that winter is starting to crank up again. Still, we’re putting on a brave face and it’s good to see the sun out on a Friday afternoon even in mid-October. For those of you who don’t follow the blog too regularly, we like our last post of the week to put a smile on people’s faces, so this is just a post to try and boost that Friday feeling 🙂

It’s always nice to post a video that’s made us laugh out loud, and the above is some of the most dedicated stop motion I’ve ever seen. It’s a bit on the long side, but you’ll have gotten the most out of it by about a minute in anyway.

Put on a Happy Face – Weekend’s Nearly Here

October 9, 2009

Hopefully by now everyone is working themselves into that Friday feeling; it can be a bit hard before lunch, but now that the afternoon is well and truly underway it’s hard for us to stop thinking about the fact that the weekend is almost here.

If nothing else does it for you, then ramming two spacecraft into the surface of the moon at speeds in excess of seven times the speed of sounds is among the best ways we’ve seen to kickstart the weekend, fair play NASA, have to give them credit for that.

It’s strange to see Jackie Chan advertising Kapersky 2010, but I guess on some levels it’s a perfect fit and by “on some levels” I do mean “when it comes to fantastic advertising. I’m also intrigued by Kapersky’s idea of “the Cyberworld,” it seems like a pretty hip place 🙂

Cheer up all – There’s a Weekend About

September 4, 2009

Happy Friday everyone, hopefully the week has been at least as good to you guys as it’s been to me, if not a bit better (not too much better though, or we’ll get jealous). Anyway, in case you’re new to it, we tend to throw together a just-for-fun blog post on a Friday afternoon in an attempt to cheer up everyone in the last couple of hours before the weekend really kicks off.

I literally laughed until I felt like I might be sick at the above, so I figured we’d throw it up on the blog and see how people liked it, given that it seems a lot of our readers are game people it seemed like it might appeal.

Other than that, there’ve been a couple of things that have just made us giggle a bit this week we thought we’d pass your way. This included:

Cheer Up All – It’s Nearly the Weekend

August 28, 2009

Hey there everyone, hope the week has been as kind to you guys as it’s been to us. It’s been kind of an interesting week in the news, though we’ve had a fairly slow day today, which is something that can happen on a Friday (especially in summertime).

For those of you who don’t read regularly, we tend to post one last light-hearted blog entry to get a bit of a smile on Friday afternoon. Y’know, in an attempt to cheer up everyone stuck in work for the next few hours. In that spirit, here’s something we really enjoyed that you guys might appreciate.

This has kind of been doing the rounds, but if you haven’t already seen it, it’s well worth a look. As a general rule “sand art” isn’t something we’d encountered before, but if there weren’t tears when we first saw it there were certainly a lot of, “No man, just some… grit… in my eye…” moments that were, honestly, just a touch embarrassing.

Next is just an image we stumbled on last night that’s particularly timely given the launch of Snow Leopard today. Apple’s next OS, could it be Cougar?

Credit on this one goes to Dschwen :)

Last thing for this week; this one goes out to all the people this week who were hoping for an announcement about when Diablo III might come out. A wait that, of course, ended in disappointment.

I genuinely laugh out loud every time I see it :D

I genuinely laugh out loud every time I see it 😀

Alright everyone, that’s it from us until Monday. I hope you guys have enjoyed the blog for this week. I’ll try and keep responding to any comments we get here or on the Twitter over the weekend when I can 🙂

Have a great weekend all!

Cheer up Everyone – The Weekend’s Nearly Here

August 21, 2009

As I’m sure most of you will know by now, we put up a blog post every Friday with some bits and pieces that we think might cheer you guys up during the final leg of the run through the week and into the weekend. This week, we’re opening with this genuinely amazing YouTube video of two German girls doing things I’d never have suspected possible on a bike.

If you’re anything like us then that video required a quick shout around the get the people nearest to you to run over and have a look at the amazing things happening over the course of that (mute terror at the standing-on-the-handlebars bits). The next segment is a bit of a nostalgia trip, but worthwhile.
